Racism and the death penalty

Excellent post from Thinkprogress. I’ve long been opposed to capital punishment, not in theory but in practice. We have a rece problem in this country, and our criminal justice system is rife with racial inequality and when a man or woman’s life is in the balance, there is no margin for error. This post spells it out. If administered fairly, I would consider the death penalty for particularly heinous crimes (mass murder, for example) and to serve as a deterrant.
