Chavez and the Venzuelan economy

The Center for Economic and Policy Research helpfully decide to set the record straight on Chavez and wht he has accomplished for the people of Venezuela economically.

Don’t get me wrong, I am no supporter of Hugo Chavez and his authoritarian regime: I think his record on civil rights is atrocious and should be condemned as such. But if we are going to have a substantive and informed discussion about Venezuela’s various economic policies and how well they work compared with US policies, we really ought to start with the facts, not made up talking points from right wingers.
